Again, all the things they "want" are based on lies spun up by right-wing media: rampant voter fraud, millions of trans kids in sports, an epidemic of killings caused by "illegals", "they'll take away our guns", the weaponization of the judiciary against Trump and the Jan 6 "protesters", etc.
All our political wants are shaped by things we observe and are told about the world. But it's simply not true that all differences between conservative republican voters and progressive democratic voters are artificial creations of their media diets.
In a pluralistic democratic society, people genuinely have different values from another. They have different priorities, different conceptions of what makes a good life and a good society, different things that they think should be valued more than others. Politics and democracy aren't a process for finding a singular "best" set of policies or "best" way to run a government. They are a process for mediating these different and conflicting sets of values and priorities, for deciding whose preferences will get reflected in what we do.
For most voters, one of the candidates will simply be the better choice for them, regardless of how "good" that candidate is at being President. For many (and probably most) voters that have the beliefs and preferences we typically associate with the right wing of the political spectrum, any Republican President - even Trump - is going to be the better choice for them than any Democratic alternative. Those folks are going to continue to believe they made the right choice in voting for Trump, and they're probably correct that voting for Trump was the right choice for them.
