The news item that may have hit some of your radar screens is that corrupt Trump wants a new $250 bill with his face on it.
The problem being that laws prevent a) this denomination, and b) living people to be on currency.
The recently sacked director of the Bureau of Printing and Engraving is Patty Solimene. If you search about you'll find some details on Patty's remarkable career arc, but I'll summarize.
I know her, some. I talked to her about a certain Special Operations opportunity, in an organization in which she served while in uniform, while I was fresh off coming out of an assignment in the more public Ranger Regiment. She gave me an option for something I hadn't well considered, that worked out well, and led to me getting slated for a White House gig from '08-'11.
Patty is very well known in the Special Operations community, having served at war, and done so with distinction, for a long time. Another very good friend of mine who was also in that same unit as her, and who deployed at the same time I did on several occasions, and is also a retired Colonel like Patty speaks the world of her.
Patty lost half a leg in a training accident. She's always been very competitive and very fit - she was on a training ride on her bike and got hit. She tried to salvage things, but eventually made the call that the injured lower leg had to go.
Didn't stop her and she was a highly successful Paralympian. She continued to excel after 24 years in uniform, in the BEP role. Pretty cool gig, quite the career shift, always enjoyed her leadership posts on LinkedIn.
When I saw this $250 bill crap, I knew how this would end. She would get pressured to do this, she would tell them "nope" and get sacked. Patty also dared to have pronouns on her LinkedIn profile, and I'm sure that butthurt Hegseth.
She has more leadership ability and more character in her prosthetic leg than corrupt Trump and his entire slate of appointees.
Patty will land just fine and wherever she directs her energies will be *much* better off for it. These clowns fired an absolutely top shelf superstar, and I'm sure whatever acting director got put in the slot is another D-team clown.
