It's far fetched, but anything can happen here. I think all that info is wanted for voter suppression. What the normal scenario is, is that the GOP gets a law passed that requires something new to be a registered voter and within 3-6 months of the vote, or purges rolls so that more Dems will be unregistered. There's not enough time to get the word out and canvass the surrounding areas, so registrations or ID requirements for voting shut some people out. They deny it, but pretty much everyone knows this occurs. A couple of times the quiet part is said out loud, that the GOP benefits by less people voting. We benefit by more people voting. We need to get away from this type of action, but since the states are in charge of the voting, they can do this, we complain, but it seems nothing can be done about it.

They have people who analyze this and come up with esoteric ways to do this, so there's constantly a new way, and too much energy is devoted to this.
