Life must be easy, for consultants. A company's clueless management comes to you for advice. You charge a big fee, for a powerpoint out of your mix and match book of standard slides. You walk away with your pockets full of money. When the company implements the plan, it blows up, costing the company a fortune. Meanwhile, you have moved on to conning another client.
It may have been on the Fool, where I was making comments about "consultants" damaging companies. Someone said Cracker Barrel did the entire rebranding effort in house. I showed him the press release, from last spring, where the company announced it had hired rebranding "experts".
The Cracker Barrel circle is now complete. I wonder how much the consultant made off the company?
