do you recommend my usual sneakers, or should I wear the good pair? Is a riot a formal dress occasion?

No sneakers.

Seriously, whether it’s formal or informal depends on whether it’s after five in the afternoon. If you think the riot may go late, you can always have a dinner jacket, bowtie and cummerbund handy in the car. And throw in a shoe brush in case you scuff those boots.

There’s no excuse for not looking your best st a good riot.
