Decades ago, I watched a series "The Body In Question", where the host of the program used himself as the subject, to demonstrate how people can be entirely oblivious to the fact they are suffocating, if the CO2 doesn't build up. I just did a net sifter search to make sure high altitude hypoxia was painless and fatal, and the net sifter directed me to a suicide crisis line. So much for man's search for knowledge. :)
