I'd like to add a word re the trend in RDPI in this graph, which I referred to in my preceding post:

I (and many others a lot smarter than I am on such matters) would add that what truly matters is not merely whether aggregate income is growing but rather how those gains are getting distributed. As anyone who's studied the topic knows, in the U.S. (and in much of the world) the gains have gone largely to the folks at the top.
