The paper tiger won the battle and lost the war. The U.S. is clearly worse off in the region than it was before the war. No matter what the childish scorecard of airplanes and ships and dead civilians says, the Iranian regime survived,
I’m remember how Robert McNamara won the Vietnam War by counting things. Dead bodies, mostly: men, women, children. Sometimes pathways through Viet Cong territory. Lots of supplies disrupted. We’re winning! Look, we lost fewer of our Army grunts this week. We’re winning even more! Look how many bombs we dropped this week! Amazing!
Yes, counting things is a sure way to prove you’ve won. Just ask McNamara. Or LBJ. They’re in the history books as the glorious leaders who won the Vietnam War.
