The week's question
In March 2025, in the thread "Re: OT, out", Umm asked the members: "Do you think it is because America is made up of magical soil that makes businesses based in America magically profitable?" This week it is put to everyone again. The button below opens the small thread re-asking it - read what others have said so far, then give your own answer as an ordinary reply.

I laff so hare at the anti El-Sayed ads, howling he will let people out of prison.

Remember the "First Step Act", singed by Trump the Most Perfect, in his first term?

How many people were sprung, thanks to Trump the Strong and Powerful? From the net sifter:

Approximately 30,000 individuals have been released from federal prison or had their sentences reduced under the First Step Act according to Department of Justice and advocacy group estimates

Breakdown of Releases and Reductions

Early Releases: Nearly 30,000 total federal prisoners released ahead of schedule.

Retroactive Sentencing: Over 4,000 individuals received sentence reductions from retroactive applications (such as the Fair Sentencing Act).

Compassionate Release: Roughly 4,560 people released through expanded compassionate release provisions.

Home Confinement: Over 7,200 inmates served the final portions of their sentences at home.

The First Step Act, formally known as the Formerly Incarcerated Reenter Society Transformed Safely Transitioning Every Person Act, is a bipartisan criminal justice bill passed by the 115th U.S. Congress and signed by President Donald Trump in December 2018. The act enacted several changes in U.S. federal criminal law aimed at reforming federal prisons and sentencing laws in order to reduce recidivism, decreasing the federal inmate population, and maintaining public safety.[1]

Fortunately, GOP voters have the memory of a gnat, so they don't remember when their God and Savior Trump sprung tens of thousands from prison.
