The worst part is: Trump could've gone the other way on this one, and crushed it politically.

A majority of people - want it preserved as is.

A majority of people - are open to tax hikes for this to happen.


What is FICA cutoff - 176k? If Trump would've gone out and said - no more cap. FICA continues from $176K on. And we'll bump the age a year. And if that's not enough, tweak again.

Done deal.

A majority of Trump's voters benefit, and a majority of the new taxes are paid by the blue folk.


Instead the Republicans want to use Social Security to give power to Democrats.
