Yes, I am proud we have a President who shut down this iffy program, starting over to set up programs and keep track where our tax payers monies is actually going to people and countries who need our help.
iirc, JFK started several "soft power" programs, because the Soviets were having considerable success winning "hearts and minds" in the third world, by helping people, instead of sending troops in to crack heads.
A lot of people never liked it. I remember my grandfather complaining about "foreign aid" in the 60s.
So, now the US has reverted to the default choice being sending in troops to crack heads...if there is a profit in it for his nibs.
