With all that's going on, I've decided to take a break from reading Heather Cox Richardson, Joyce Vance and Olga Lautman (author of the Trump Tyranny Tracker). I just can't take knowing the full extent of the Trump admin's depravities, depredations and destruction directed at the Constitution, the American system of government and the world order. I'll "brush up" on the latest from the good people here, but that's it.
Up until today I still had some optimism that America would survive Trump. But no more. Will there even be valid mid-term elections in 2026? Will Trump EO-away the election in 2028 as "unnecessary" and just stay in power, Putin style? I can't honestly say these things are impossible any more.
And I'm too old and frail - I'm no wzambon, that's for sure! - that much as as I'd like to, I can't even "take to the streets" or "take up arms in rebellion" in defense of Liberty. (*) But I think that's what it will actually take to put an end to this. And it has to happen very soon or all will be lost. Another pipe-dream possibility is that there are a few closet honorable republicans left in Congress who finally come to their senses and vote for a dem-sponsored bill of impeachment of both Trump and Vance, and then threaten to take out next-in-line Rubio unless he also comes to his senses.
Nothing much cheers me up these days, and I find myself darkly hoping for that asteroid to just end the human race, or at least for another much more deadly novel virus to arise and send us all back to the dark ages where MAGA longs to be.

(*) I actually considered buying a gun in my liberal NY State where I live "just in case the sh!t goes down" but I realized I'd be far more likely to use it blow my brains out before I'd otherwise use it.
