The week's question
In March 2025, in the thread "Re: OT, out", Umm asked the members: "Do you think it is because America is made up of magical soil that makes businesses based in America magically profitable?" This week it is put to everyone again. The button below opens the small thread re-asking it - read what others have said so far, then give your own answer as an ordinary reply.

Trump eyes his name on Alabama bridge as rally seats sit empty

Speaking at a rally in Mobile, Trump highlighted the groundbreaking earlier in the day of the Interstate 10 Mobile River Bridge and Bayway project, a decades-in-the-making infrastructure effort expected to cost more than $4 billion.

“All made possible with $3 billion in funding from the Trump administration,” Trump told supporters, referring to federal support for the project.

He then floated the possibility of giving the bridge his name.

“Maybe I’ll be happy, and they’ll name the damn bridge after me,” Trump said. “Then I’ll say, have all the overruns you want, make it just absolutely the greatest bridge in the world.”

Cost overruns don't matter, when it's for the greater glory of Trump. He said it out loud.

His stain on the country will last long after he's gone, which is his intent.
