So- this morning I’m scrolling through the news. I cant even remember the particular story I was reading at the time, but scrolling past it, I ran across one of those no name articles that claimed to be a collection of ten of the oldest jokes in the world.
No, not the “That’s an old joke” kind of joke, or the “I’ve already heard that joke ten times” kind of old joke.
No…. I mean REALLY old jokes, as in “ancient history” old.
The first purported to have been found written in cuneiform on an ancient Sumerian clay tablet, probably from the 2nd-3rd millennium bce:
There has never been a new bride who farted in her husbands lap.
I wouldn’t doubt but that this is still true……
