Exxon and Chevron just posted record profits. Trump wants some of it back.
President Donald Trump called out Exxon Mobil and Chevron by name on Monday, saying the two oil giants are “making too much money” and should return some of it to the public while the average US gallon of gas sits near $4.10.
Speaking to reporters on Monday, Trump called out the two biggest US oil producers by name. “Chevron, too much money. Exxon Mobil, too much, too much money,” he said, adding that the companies should return some profits to the public. He also cited one company earning “12 times what they made the year before.”
He followed up with a social media post criticizing Chevron CEO Mike Wirth for failing to credit the administration’s policies for the company’s record quarter. Chevron declined to comment on the remarks, and Exxon did not immediately respond to requests for comment.msn.com - Exxon and chevron just posted record profits trump wants some of it backSo, he wants to hear "Hail Trump the Magnificent" from big oil. I'm sure that surprises no-one. And how would that "give back" work? Big oil give the money to Trump the Magnificent, while he promises $1000 gas "rebate checks" coming, right after the election. Once past the election, the "rebate checks" are forgotten, Trump pockets the money, and big oil is given free rein to gouge the Proles.
