Another big thank you for launching an investigation into the explosive growth of autism in our population
It's always been there. First we collapsed a bunch of differently named disorders to "under the autistic spectrum," then we continually refined and expanded the diagnostic criteria, then we taught, refined, and retaught how to diagnose at early and later stages. But I would be willing to bet the growth is higher at schools that have the money, and a competent psych person. A good psych person can alert teachers, coaches, and viola, we have an outbreak. Since you can fudge the data easily for RFK's study - expect some findings.
