I'm a little disappointed. I was hoping our Xtians were better and hope this is an anomaly. So what happened to the RW solution of letting Xtians do all the charity, like SNAP, WIC, etc? Out the window 'cause... mega churches? Did she just call the wrong churches? Perhaps I should be more cynical.

The starkness of the contrast does surprise me, but only by a little. Unfortunately, many Christian churches talk a good game, but when you dig deeper, their benevolence and sympathies are encapsulated by the expression “Charity begins at home”.

Unfortunately, too often, it ends there.

I looked around and a few of the churches were trying to send her to food pantries that were coordinated with multiple churches, but there were far too many that said they only help church members from what I've read.

iirc, Trump's official religious advisor is a proponent of "prosperity theology", meaning that, if you have been a good boy, God will reward you with material goodies. On the other hand, if you are poor, that is your punishment for being bad, somehow. So, seems the takeaway is that "good" people are rich, so don't need help. The people who are struggling must be "bad", and don't deserve help. Doesn't seem to register with them that bad things can happen to good people.

As luck would have it, I mosied over to the theater a couple weeks ago, and saw "Good Fortune", an interesting take on the "Guardian Angel" bit.

I would be pissed if I donated to a church & found out that they were giving the Lord's money to "single mother" whores. I would want it to go to the Lord's work or toward helping godly Christians who are in need. Churches should not be funding fornicators and their bastards.
