People who have the latitude to spend THOUSANDS of dollars on recreational are WEALTHY.
Or...they are frugal and save-up for stuff like this. And have roommates, and/or live at home to defray expenses. And 1poorkid is VERY good at finding deals (airfare, etc). Better than I am, and I have more experience. She finds deals for her friends whenever they want to do something.
You remember saving-up? I sure do. I was very frugal in my youth, but I would save up a year (or more) so I could do something 'fun' (or buy something I wanted...I even did lay-away a few times). I know that's a foreign concept to most people today. For me (and, now, for 1poorkid), it's routine.
