The prompts are not the issue; there is not special about them.
Well, I disagree. There are two major components to every backtest:
* the data: the breadth - price, fundamentals, calculated values/ratios and technicals, type of invesment - ; the depth - number of years back; and the quality - survivorship bias-free, accuracy of price.
* the tools/commands available to query it.
Pay-to-play environments like Portfolio123, SIPro, VL and brokerage screener tools combine these with varying degrees of reliability & quality.
GTR1 is (or was) the best free source of data that took thousands of man hours to create and maintain. But the user interface - tools to access the data was complex enough that it also took many hundreds of person hours just to explain it, a custom tool developed elsewhere to make it more easily accessible, and many hours of investment by each person to understand it and optionally communicate successful data entry practices.
For a start, sure we could expect it's easier to use prompts to query public data sources than GTR1's command set. But sharing the prompts that produced useful results, or just the best practices and the results, would be a great next step.
