Americans Tired of Ukraine’s Graft? Trump Jr Drops Truth Bombs With 'Scandal On The World Stage!'Want to see some people's heads explode?
Item: the Assad regime had been an irritant/threat to Israel for decades.
Item: Obama started funneling weapons to Syrian rebels staring in 2012. There was a coincident US propaganda campaign, of which the most obvious vector was the almost daily pieces on CBS news, of rebel refugee Syrian women and children supposedly saying "where is America? American needs to help us".
Item: The Russian military engaged in Syria starting in 2015, in support of the Assad regime.
Item: with the Ukraine operation proving much more challenging than anticipated, Russian support for the Assad regime withered.
Item: the US Congress approved the last aid package for Ukraine in April 2024.
Item: Assad grabbed his Swiss bankbook, and ran for Russia on December 8, 2024.
Forgetting for a moment how kissy-face Trump is with Putin, because he wasn't in power at the time, consider that from the jump, US support for Ukraine was entirely about siphoning off enough Russian resources, to weaken their effort in Syria. Once the Assad regime fell, Ukraine became expendable.
The Collapse of al-Assad’s Syria, One Year On
The story begins not in 2024, but in 2011. Every means was deployed over those fourteen years by the West, Turkey, and the Arab petro-princes in tacit agreement with Israel: a proxy war that served as a training ground for jihadists from half the world and devastated—with frightening human costs and in irreparable ways—all social balances and ethnic structures of the Republic.
The formal vehicle for much of this was Operation Timber Sycamore, the Obama administration’s covert program launched around 2012—a billion-dollar CIA operation that ran through 2017, moving weapons from Libyan stockpiles and Gulf arsenals into the hands of anti-Assad factions.
If the United States’ logic has been regime change and market access, Israel’s has been fragmentation and containment—a vision outlined in Oded Yinon’s 1982 article proposing that Israel’s security depends on the dissolution of large Arab states into smaller sectarian entities.
For Israel, the benefits are manifold: a weakened, divided Syria incapable of conventional challenge; justification to extend control beyond the Golan Heights—Israeli forces have seized buffer zones and strategic high ground including Mount Hermon; and the opportunity to position itself as protector of Syria’s minorities, displacing Damascus as their reference point.https://www.geopoliticalmonitor.com/the-collapse-o...Steve
