I hate the limits on abortions because they are brainless. Consider a woman 6 months along. She almost certainly wanted it or she would have taken steps much earlier. Therefore, something happened to change her calculus. Time limit legislation can't account for all the possibilities, and doesn't even try. Which is why it will always be bad legislation.
The issue is far too complex to leave to legislators. It should be left to the woman and her doctor

And they are deceptive. When they talk about weeks in pregnancy, you'd think they'd have a standard way of calculating the moment of conception, but they don't. What they use as a starting point is the day before your last period. This couldn't possibly be the day of conception because you have a period right after that. And IIRC, the high point of ovulation ( best time for pregnancy) starts about 2.5 weeks after that for ~3 days. So you are around 2.5 to 3 weeks into your pregnancy when conception occurs - normally.
When does a woman normally find out she's pregnant? After she misses her period, which would would be about 30 days into he pregnancy b this deceptive method. This is all from memory, but when someone says sis weeks into a pregnancy, that's about the earliest she's finding out. We should think three months plus 2.5 weeks at least.
