You guys are going about this all wrong. Every egg has the potential to be a person. Denying that egg fertilization, even by abstinence, denies that person his/her "right to life". Some religions partly recognize this by banning artificial birth control. The "life begins at conception" narrative is nothing but a coverup of this simple fact. Therefore, declare every egg to have the protection of the state.
Yup, I've raised this point before. Going down the path of "potential persons" is madness. Because even every single sperm is as much a potential person as an egg is! "Spilling your seed" makes a man a mass murder of epic proportions!
Isn't this the argument made by Reese Witherspoon in Legally Blonde? It's a fun argument, but I think historically the reliigionists relied on Doctors, and Science to make the determination, and IIRC the AMA pushed it. But you can always counter that the soul doesn't enter then. My father used to jokingly argue that people don't become human until 15, and you should be able to kill them at will up till then. That's the only dark humor I ever remember him making. I've had friends who've had stillbirths, etc., and there are a lot of auto abortions. I'm appalled at the number of anti abortion people that are anti vaxx. I would guess I'm a good little libtard.
