The right response from the federal agents would have been to detain Pretti, call in the city/county/state police to arrest Pretti and charge him with the property crime he seems to have committed.

The Minneapolis PD Chief was interviewed for the news a couple days ago. He talked about what a strain his 600 person department is under, trying to do it's normal police work, *and* clean up all the chaos created by the 3,000 Federal agents in the city. Sorting out assault and malicious damage charges between the storm troopers and citizens is probably taking up a lot of department time. That is why the Gov sent in the National Guard. The guardsmen are wearing yellow vests, so they can be identified, as not being storm troopers, and the Guardsmen are supposed to be paired up with Minneapolis PD officers, to provide extra muscle, when needed, while the Police have the arresting authority.
