I have lived in southeastern Utah since 1976. We are in a long term drought. This year we hardly had anything deserving of the word 'winter'. And the nearby mountains are at 40% of normal snowpack. I'm sure weather variations will provide some occasional relief, but the trend we are seeing aligns well with what climate change models have predicted: hotter and drier. Not good for an already arid region.

And look at Phoenix:

Phoenix experienced 70 days with temperatures at or above 110 degrees Fahrenheit in 2025. This total was part of a historically hot year, with 2025 ranking as the 2nd hottest on record for the city. The summer also featured a, notable 113-day streak of temperatures at or above 100 degrees.
