A Democrat running for the state senate in swing state Pennsylvania won a special election last night. No big deal.

Except it was a district that Trump won by 15%.

Except the last time a Democrat represented the district in the PA senate was in 1889. And no, that’s not a typo.

But other than that, no biggie.

Democrat James Andrew Malone narrowly won a special election for a Pennsylvania state Senate seat in Republican-leaning suburbs and farming communities, scoring an upset in a district that a Democrat hasn’t represented in the chamber for 136 years.
