By taking CVN-81 away from Miller, all Trump the Magnificent is doing is jumping the queue. But, after all, he is the most perfect, most brilliant, and most entitled, person in the world, bordering on God-hood.
Buckle up kids. Here is the scheme, as I see it:
CVN-81 has not been laid down. It was scheduled to be laid down this year, but it hasn't happened yet, and there appears to be no firm date, at this time.
Trump the Conqueror has decreed that future carriers revert to steam cats, and have the island moved farther forward.
It would be assumed Trump the Most Perfect would want "HIS" carrier to be built to the design *HE* wants.
A design change that significant would result in the Trump not being a Ford class carrier, but a new and distinct class. Traditionally a new and distinct class of ships is named after the first ship of that design, ie, USS Trump.
Someone probably explained to Trump the Most Exceptional that it would take years to design the Trump class battleships, from a clean sheet, assuming Congress approved the funding. *However* Trump the Brilliant could hijack the already approved Ford class program, impose enough design changes for the ships to be a new class, and see a class of big, Big, BIG warships named after himself sooner. The cost of issuing a multi-Billion dollar change order to an existing design would be immaterial, as he is the most entitled person to ever walk the face of the earth. Once he has pushed his scheme to highjack the existing carrier program, to be a monument to himself, he will probably forget about the battleships.
