[Many of us] spent many thousands of hours on investing. Are you saying you only did this to make money, and it is not a hobby for you?
"A hobby is a leisure activity pursued for pleasure and enjoyment, typically during one's free time. ... Essentially, a hobby is something you do for fun, not as a primary job or obligation. ... Hobbies are activities done for enjoyment and relaxation, not for work or financial gain."
By that definition, it is absolutely not a hobby.
Nothing says you cannot have fun doing work that pays you.
Nobody expects a hobby to make them money. People do like to enjoy their job that also pays well.
The goal of investing is to make money. Having fun doing it is just an incidental benefit.
