OnePoorGuy.....

Thanks for the reply. long-ish post and NO offense taken if you don't read it.

Why I believe it entails --- and I suspect what I find unpleasant, you might be ok with but that's fine, a normal civilized exchange where neither party is *owned* by their respective cable channel is rare, and needed.

What I don't like about "AOCish"
***************************

I don't like the tone. I don't like the 'america is evil' aura and mentality. I'm not into the let's be apologetic as Americans, but give free pass to the EuroColonizers. It's a mentality ---not everything is a policy or an "issue".

I don't like the entitlement, the aggressive envy. I accept revenues need to be raised - I do. But I can't stand the "tax the rich" mentality as knee-jerk to everything. "From each according to his ability, TO each according to his need" doesn't work for me when it's universal. When it drips with envy and disdain for wealth. Again, I refer more to tone here, to philosophy. When it comes to math, this writer voted for Ross Perot whose 1992 tax increase proposals would top AOC or Bernie.

To say that wealthy folks don't pay fair share, that they inherited or cheated. I'm sorry, but no. In SOME cases - sure. In SOME cases Muslims are terrorists too but just like we rush to say "not all of them" -- well, same goes here. I love, like, and want that American spirit that says ---I want more. I want to explore more. I want to push further west. I want to risk. I want to try. And that American spirit is alive but the trouble is, we've lost it. But ethnic groups that are on TOP in America...oh, they have it big time. And when they start entry level gigs with cabs, dunkin, fast food, you name it and eventually own the business....and eventually buy more businesses - I kinda like the taxes they pay, the hiring they do. The property tax they pay. All of it. I want more of it and I don't want it vilified.

I don't want an America that is multiculturalism run amok. I want assimilation. A common language, a common culture. Doesn't mean people can't bring us their yummy food or great music. It means we *all* celebrate 4th of July and know why --not Cinco de Mayo. It means while I love me a good buffer with Chicken Tikka Masala, I don't want Ganesh statues all over the river. It means that I'm not in favor of hyphenated Americanism. Either the first priority is OUR language, OUR cultural norms, OUR history and civics...or we become a polyglot. We develop tribes. Castes. Things that will be pavement. One Poor - these things are how tiny European Countries used to colonize huge countries. They exploited tribal differences and bought off a some nobles. Kinda like Xi, PUTIN, and BIBI have realized they can do to us. And are doing it for real. And language is one perfect area----I don't want to cater to other languages. Just like France expects people to speak French, ditto English in America again 0 different languages - easier to divide people. Eventually that can turn into different uniforms too.

And, I know it's no fashionable. But a march away from traditional family structure: Father, Mother, married, responsibly raising kids has been one of our death knells and AOCism, Liberalism, I feel has peddled that shit and normalized it. 70% births out of wedlock in a certain community is Leftism. It's now hit 34% in the country at large. I urge you to look up Senator Moynihan (D) on this topic, see what he said. Look up Alexis De Tocqueville "Democracy in America", see what he said .

Balkanization will suck. Ask India Pakistan. Ask Ukraine about the Russian speaking part of the country. Ask Croats and Serbs. Ask Sunnis and Shias. '

My perception of AOCism is. - she, and the philosophy are marinaded in the few things I listed that are not to my liking. BUT unlike Sheeple and 401K'ers here ---I am also able to separate philosophy and feel ---with policy and realism on the street.

And I am 100% resolved and have been: Liberalism wishes to hook as many people as possible - to the State via assistance. This way they can own and control said people be it via health insurance, universal childcare, or whatever it maybe.

A few things I like.......some style, some policy.

*I respect political acumen and she has it. She's tempered herself. She's wisely waiting her turn. Time and demography is her friend and she knows it.

*I *love* that she isn't owned by Israel. Would she play nice to get ahead? YES and I'm fine with that. On some defense system we were providing for Israel she voted NO---but then for expediency and record I think changed to 'present'-----and she almost cried while doing it. I kinda like it. I'm tired of greedy manipulators owning this country.

*I love that she's not owned by Wall Street. While I love capitalism.... it's run amok. Wall Street is squeezing every cent, out of every cent, out of everybody and it's part of the reason more Americans can't afford to live. yes, shitty family structures is a culprit. Yes, shitty priorities is a culprit. But even people doing honest work, with good family structures are feeling a pinch and it's NOT over Bezos not paying more in taxes, it's that Wall Street literally jacks around with everything from rent to a price of a burger to the price of medicine.

Trouble is, some of the stuff I don't like about AOCism....is starting to become a 'need' because while the Left wanted to destroy culture and family structure, The Right, and 401K Democrats gave it all to Wall Street and now, many Americans walk around visibly on the edge, wondering if a slip and fall on the ice results in a hospital visit, which results in losing the rent money.

What I do salute AOC and Bernie and the gang for is holding the skunk up by the tail. Staying how even people trying to do it right - are kind of victims of math and how it's tough to even secure the basics, let alone luxuries.

Whether it's free busses, free child care, free basic health care....I think SOMETHING needs to be done. And while that something isn't 100% government takeover....it's not what the Right says "noun verb free market tax voucher".

At least the AOC people are thinking. Proposing. Going in a direction. They aren't shouting "pro life" and then against discounted child care or better special-needs school budgets. They aren't shouting "we support the troops" but then not increasing benefits for said troops. They aren't shouting "salute first responders" when indeed it was Liberals and the likes of Jon Stewart who got help for 9-11 first responders.

All I know this this OnePoorGuy: America, is gonna 'pop' - despite our vast gifts and advantages. Our human capital - the less visible swaths of human capital are desperate. More of them are going to be unwell. More are going to reach for machine guns. More of them will be meaner.

The American Dream? Here's what it is today when you venture out of Club 401K WholeFoodsVille:
"I paid my bills this month. I didn't get shot at. My daughter and her boyfriend might be able to afford their own place and to take care of their child" ---that snapshot right there is reality and marries the ills of modern culture and terrible economic realities.

Honestly? I don't want an AOC america. But I hate to say this: I want a Bill Clinton America. Not tax and spend. Not welfare state but "invest and grow" as he used to say. Admit that not everyone is a self starter. Maybe offer SOME help ---not to buy bread. But to get the tools needed to buy bread.

Things like "bus fare" "universal child care" --I'm not for BUT, I am for some compromise. I am for admitted that ok - the culture was fucked. Family structure was fucked. Many need day care, health care, and just mathematically can't afford it. I feel we need SOME compromise between socialism and capitalism---to get some of our population to a point to where we can fairly say "ok, we removed that barrier and weight. Now, it's on you to do right"

Right now my prediction of decades stands: 20% will have it better than ever - they already do. 80% will be literally, visibly, in the Hunger Games. And intervention IS needed and I feel that AOC---the lady and the philosophy, is a legit, needed voice at the table.

As you can see I don't have a home in either party anymore :).
