1984, the title of Orwell's novel, and the year that Apple introduced the MAC. Innovative (expen$ive!) ad that aired a single time at that year's Super Bowl, with the woman throwing a hammer and smashing a screen like in Orwell's novel/movie.

The article, praising Jobs' innovativeness, doesn't go into the general prickiness of his nature that came out later, but...

Distractions aside, when all is said and done, the MAC DID basically invent the personal computer for 'everyone' concept. A mere forty years ago... Seems like 'just yesterday'... Reagan in the midst of his two terms in office...
