Heather Cox Richardson is not a historian, she's a political hack.

In fact, to first claim that Trump's actions mimic "19th century imperialism," but then (inevitably) compare those same actions to "Putin" shows just how much of a hack she is. Does she even realize that this is the 21st Century, and Putin didn't exist in the 19th Century?

If she was a real historian, she could have provided a more apt comparison, with a real 19th Century conflict, i.e. the Barbary Wars.

But again, she's not a legitimate historian.
