It’s worth watching in its entirety, both for the example it provides of a contemporary example of pure fascism, as well as its philosophical justifications for the steps Trump hinted last night that he is about to take.
Probably nothing in there that I have not already expected to happen.
My favorite subject in school was history. I had a teacher in Jr High who lived under Nazi occupation in the Netherlands. Two guys where I worked in the late 70s were in a Nazi forced labor camp.
I have been working, for several years, to get my "papers" in order. The "enhanced" license is the last thing I can think of, after certified US birth certificates for myself and both parents, and images from the Immigration Service of my paternal grandparent's naturalization certificate.
I stopped donating to charities that could be deemed an enemy of the state several years ago. When I volunteered to work at a polling place, I had to declare a party affiliation. A few years ago, I was at the township hall to pay my property tax, and went across the hall to the Clerk's office, and asked when my information, including the party declaration, will drop out of their records. The clerk didn't know for sure how long they retain that information, but, if I didn't volunteer again, it would eventually drop out. I used to receive letters from the Clerk each election cycle inviting me to work again, but I have not. I don't recall receiving a letter from them this year, so maybe my information has fallen out of their system.
When I said, over 20 years ago, that the US was "becoming a big, heavily armed, aggressive, banana republic", I meant it. And I have been preparing for arrival at the banana republic end state for a number of years.
