What Trump has promised to do on ‘day one’ as president

Trump has made 41 distinct promises for his first day in office, including mass deportations and banning transgender women from sports.

Many of Trump’s promises fall outside the scope of a president’s authority under the Constitution, according to legal experts. Even some of those that are within his purview would face legal or logistical challenges that would make them all but impossible to carry out on a short timeline.

Just a few of his many 'day one' promises:

Begin the “largest deportation operation in American history”

Cut federal funds for schools teaching what Trump has described as “critical race theory” and “transgender insanity”

Cut federal funds for schools that have a “vaccine mandate or mask mandate”

Sign an order to “end automatic citizenship for the children of illegal aliens”

Repeal “Biden’s electric vehicle mandate”

Repeal the Green New Deal

Not saying these proposals aren't popular, but the 'day one' bullshit is silly.

Will the MAGA crowd be disappointed when 'promises made' don't become 'promises kept'? No.

No, he will not get all of this on day one and over time, some of it more so than others, and some of it never (requiring a constitutional amendment).

You have deluded yourself into to believing that vast numbers of Trump supporters are so stupid they really expect all this ill be accomplished on day one and will be outraged when day two arrives with so much left undone. Do I really have to point out you are wrong about that?

Not me. I expect a lukewarm deportation scheme that fizzles after going after criminals, then I expect importing immigrants to go by the wayside - none of which bothers me as long as we don't get inhumane. But that's part of Trump - send the "inhumane" message to stop the flow. I think it's inhumane to deport someone who's been here for 30 years and isn't a criminal.

I want the farmers to be able to plant and harvest - deal with that. I don't care if it's illegals, but if you want permits to work then get that GD program to work or accept it doesn't and let the farmers have their workers. Don't hurt farmers.

If we do programs to get people into houses, look at Singapore. Help couples that decide to marry and have kids into housing.

=============

I agree with you on all this. Reasonable common sense perspective on likely outcome.

We would be better off as a country if liberals did more to understand why the American voters see Trump's priorities as better aligned with their lived experience and adjust their policy positions accordingly.

Sign an order to “end automatic citizenship for the children of illegal aliens”

The convict isn't full of shit, he is a pile of shit. However, it is sad that many of his followers believed this statement. He simply can't do that. He may issue an EO, but this one is in the Constitution. It would require an Amendment to change it, and one of those isn't getting through Congress and state ratification. I read a while back that it is unlikely the Constitution will ever be amended again because we can't get enough people to agree on anything. Though at some point we could have another constitutional convention, at which point it will be time to emigrate. Neither party would get that one right.

Not at all.

I don't think Trump supporters think much. They go with their gut. And their gut doesn't really inform.

No matter what Trump does or does not accomplish, the cult will say "promises made, promises kept".

****

Will CLUB 401K try to grow MAGA's ranks over the next 4 years?

So far, yes.

I'd tell you people how to win and win big, but extremists like Falwell never listen or abandon hate and orthodoxy.

What's next, Club 401K talking in tongues? LOL

That's a two way street. We would also be better off as a country if conservatives did more to understand why the American voters see Trump himself as the criminal he has been adjudicated to be, and the risks posed by putting a criminal with authoritarian tendencies in the White House.

...Trump's priorities...

LOL. Mr transactional has no core values. This is obvious to all but the dullest. His priority is 'what is in it for me'.

Maybe you think that will align with your values, and it might.

It is looking like the American Empire won't last nearly as long as the Roman Empire.

It's more urgent for those who lost - take the first and more urgent step.

Mind you that is if they are sick of giving the country away even when they actually propose and do stuff that helps more people.

That would have been good advice in the 50’s, too. We could have avoided all that messy ‘civil rights’ stuff and just let blacks keep hoping for the rights they were promised in 1864. And 1778. And so many times in between. (And keep being lynched, of course.)

We could let gays keep killing themselves (looking at you, Alan Turing among others) and self hating because their biology didn’t align with one particular chapter in a book written by goat herders in a small village 2000 years ago. That would have saved a lot of angst, too.

And we could just get rid of those socialistic programs like the ACA and messy regulations at the FDA and FAA, bust the unions and chop those intrusive guys at the ATF and FBI down to size, too.

Oh what a wonderful world it’s gonna be. I can’t imagine why liberals don’t see it that way.

Yes 100%. And...
Medicare, water standards, worker safety protections, the 40 hour work week, the social security program, organized labor, fair housing legislation...
the Voting Rights Act, food and drug safety regulations and everything else we Liberals have done to put power back into the hands of the individual and out of the hands of the ruling and corporate elite.

Amen.

Run right to the racial stuff huh, typical.

When I said this,

"We would be better off as a country if liberals did more to understand why the American voters see Trump's priorities as better aligned with their lived experience and adjust their policy positions accordingly."

I was referring to crime and the economy, areas where the liberals just rejected those as real issues that voters cared about. As far as I am concerned, it has nothing to with fear of immigrants, not because they are immigrants, but because of what their overwhelming, unchecked inflow has done to state and city budgets displacing citizens who need and deserve that help. That is a real issue too.

DSM-I was published by the APA (American Psychiatric Association) in 1952, and DSM-II was published in 1968, not 2000 years ago! Not to mention that the book with that chapter you are obliquely referring to is at least 3300 years old.
