The American people have spoken. Donald Trump will be the next president of the United States. The Party that had proudly worn the moniker of the “Moral Majority” and the “Party of Family Values” has seen fit to nominate and elect a candidate with an extensive list of behaviors and agendas that would have at any other time in American history, been resounding disqualifications. I won’t list those behaviors and agendas. I know them. You know them. If you voted for Donald Trump, you made an informed decision to disregard such behaviors and agendas, even when they would appear to be in conflict with the morals and ethics that you have professed to believe in and practice.
The Biden/Harris administration has conceded the election and already reached out to Donald Trump in order to ensure a peaceful transition of power, something Donald Trump failed to do. Democrats are as disappointed with the results of this election as Republicans were in 2020. Democrats are not saying the election was stolen, nor will there be an insurrection at the Capital this time around.
If you voted for Donald Trump, I sincerely hope that whatever motivated you to abandon the standards that once guided our country, will result in a positive four-year term of governance. Should the Trump presidency result in policies that benefit and protect most Americans, please feel free to boast. Should Donald Trump’s policies cause you, your friends, or loved one’s undesirable results, please have the character to own the consequences of your choices and actions. Lastly, please don’t share your wistful nostalgia for the “Greatest Generation” that fought against tyranny and corrupt dictators. Don’t subject us to your lament about the bygone era when people were polite, respectful of others, and didn’t use vulgarities. I won’t go so far as to say that you have forfeited the high moral ground. I’m just letting you know I don’t want to hear it.
