Really? It doesn't seem that difficult to parse. Not all that much different from Joe Biden saying, "I love the Irish," or George Bush saying "I love the folks in the military."
No. Your examples are not the same thing. The words chosen convey something positive, whereas the term “poorly educated” does not.
There ARE positive and alternative ways to refer to the same group of people, or speak to them directly.

But Trump is incapable of speaking affirmatively about groups he personally knows nothing about- except that he hoodwinked them into voting for him.
