A lot of the time defendants don't take the stand. I think most of them don't. And it would be seriously unwise to put him on the stand. He can't control what he says, and no matter how much his lawyers coach him, I doubt they can, either. He could blow his whole defense if he is put on the stand, and a trained lawyer would probably have a field day with cross-examination. Trump isn't that smart, and would probably not realize where the prosecutor is maneuvering him until he said something really dumb.

Heck, he can't even keep straight whether he can afford the bond. First he says he has at least $500M in the bank, and then he says he can't afford the bond and pleads poverty. And which case was it that he made some public comments that pretty much nuked his entire defense strategy? This was a few months ago, I think.
