When he wins, Mamdani WILL piledrive New York. It's inevitable.

Process weenies will jump in here and try to say, "But he doesn't have control of the city council, he can't pass any laws!". And that's true. But that take vastly underestimates any Mayor's power to affect everyday life in a city.

First off, you'll see a wave of police retirements and voluntary separations. Do you know how demoralizing it is for cops to work for people who openly hate their guts? The ones at retirement age will just retire. The ones with young families who want rewarding careers will do what anybody who wants a rewarding career would do - they'll move to Long Island, Jersey or someplace else for a better opportunity.

Next you'll see the activist community feed at the trough of grants as their favored policies are enacted and their causes shoved in the face of the ordinary voter. Won't be long before you start seeing homeless encampments on Wall Street and in and around Times Square. After all, they need housing, right? In Seattle we call that the Homeless Industrial Complex. They'll suck up all the grant dollars in the city and act as a magnet for more drugs and crime.

And then the spiral begins. Watch the amount of graffiti in NYC. When you let the little crimes go, big ones follow. I can tell from first hand experience how demoralizing it is when your town stops giving a rip and allows criminals to roam around doing what they want.

The near final stage is when residents are fed up with the crime and the lawlessness and start taking matters into their own hands. Not a Daniel Penney situation but something else.
