Salena Zito told us all of this a long time ago. As the headline put it at the time, Trump should be taken seriously, but not literally. The man who summed up his approach in a book called The Art of the Deal uses inflated and dramatic language to push people to the table for negotiation. Selling panic as a product, the legacy media can’t seem to allow themselves to figure this out.
Let me explain why this is BS, by way of an allegory.
Scenario 1:
Husband to wife: Honey could you please wash this shirt for me? I need it for a meeting tomorrow. In the mean time I'll go mow the lawn.
Wife: Of course honey, I'll do it right away, as I've always done.
Scenario 2:
Husband slaps his wife across the face and shouts - wash this shirt right now or I'll bash your head against the wall and rape you.
Wife: Of course, I'll do it right away, as I've always done.
Under Trump, the relationship between the U.S. and Denmark, and all of NATO, has changed from Scenario 1 to Scenario 2. How long do you think they can stay married?
