The only statewide elections today in Georgia were for 2 of 5 seats on the Georgia Public Service Commission, which sets electricity rates in, well, Georgia.
A Democrat hasn’t served on the Commission in 18 years.
Democrats won both seats on the Commission.
I guess raising rates 6 times over 2 years wasn’t so smart after all.
As an aside, I saw a graphic on a station I was watching that said an exit poll showed voters biggest reasons for voting for Democrats (VA, NJ, NYC) was affordability and the government shutdown, the PA justices and CA referendum notwithstanding.
Just about every district where I saw the detail, from deep blue to deep red districts, had a large swing towards the Democrats compared to the last 2 elections). Seems the voters aren’t buying the “it’s the Democrats fault” line.
I wouldn’t worry about it Republicans. It’s just a canary.
