We can parse words all day. The nature of the current Israeli government is clear to all. If the people of Israel vote for more of the same, from "Bibi", or Bennett, or others of their ilk, then the people of Israel will own the brutality, own the terrorizing of West Bank residents, and own genocide.
Exactly. Parsing words can be important, and it's important to people. We live in a world where the global health authorities have abandoned identifying diseases based on their country of origin (like the "Spanish Flu") because it results in increased prejudice and violence against people from that part of the world. Heck, even though we didn't call corona virus the "Chinese Virus," it still resulted in an uptick in violence against people of Asian descent. So it's understandable that we Jews are a little disturbed when that type of care doesn't get extended to our historically tormented minority group. Where people casually elide the difference between "the nature of the Israeli government" and "Israel," or "the people of Israel" and "American Jews" as if discussions of one group are identical to discussions of the other.
Jews are allowed to be "invested in Israel" the same way that Palestinians are allowed to be "invested" in the creation of a Palestinian state, without that being considered something that they need to worry about people "taking action" against them as if they were the Israeli government themselves.
