We drove through light snow to Ann Arbor, ate dinner at a nice restaurant, then left for home with a huge piece of carrot cake in a to-go box.
Still snowing as we arrived back at the house. Fed the dog. Split and ate the carrot cake, then settled into the couch with our kindles until 15 minutes ago when my wife mentioned it was a minute till midnight.
A minute later, we kissed, said “Happy Year”, then looked over at the dog on the floor who slept through the whole thing.
Fine for her, I guess… she won’t have to remember to write “2026” on the checks.
