A very apt description of our current situation. History rhymes.

I wore my 1984 T-shirt today. It has the three slogans on it. The third one is definitely active (i.e. "ignorance is strength"). The right-wing, many of them, eschews anyone who could be called an "expert", and flaunt their ignorance proudly. They even double-down on their ignorance when presented with actual facts.

I can't say I can fit the other two slogans into today's morass, but it may only be a matter of time.
