The philosophical basis of Trump's autocracy is not based on the underpinnings that people have no rights, or that the state is supreme, or that any other President not named Donald Trump should have the rights to do what he is doing. “Autocracy, Inc.”—the title of Anne Applebaum’s book—tells the story in two words. A core element of autocracy is corruption.
It’s a cycle, really: lack of accountability from autocracy fuels corruption; and the proceeds and culture from corruption fuel, protect and enforce autocracy. David Pepper lays out Trump's top 10 grifts here.
