I said early in the Iran conflict that the US hadn't tried to force its way through the straits of Hormuz yet.
Now we have:
gcaptain.com - Trump says u s navy has cleared all mines from strait of hormuzPresident Donald Trump declared Tuesday that the U.S. Navy has cleared all mines from international waters in the Strait of Hormuz, even as the multinational maritime security center overseeing threats to commercial shipping warned that mine danger areas remain active and clearance operations are continuing.
“I have just been informed by the United States Navy that all mines have been removed and/or detonated from within the International Waters of the Strait of Hormuz,” Trump said in a post on Truth Social.
Trump said Iran had been notified that “any ship or boat placing new mines will be immediately and systematically destroyed,” adding that the United States was enforcing a “Zero Tolerance” policy on new mine placement. In conjunction with this, the US has announced the "Economic D-Day" for the Iranian regime, aimed at choking off its last few dollars. But there were other provisions in that pertinent to ships sailing the straits:
x.com - IranIntl EnMariners and shipping companies risk US sanctions or penalties if they respond to information requests from Iranian organizations related to the Strait of Hormuz, the Treasury Department warned on Monday.
The Office of Foreign Assets Control said the risk applied even when no payment was involved. It had previously warned that paying Iranian tolls for passage through the strait could violate US sanctions.
The alert named the Persian Gulf Strait Authority, Persian Gulf Marine Insurance Company and HormuzSafe Marine Services Authority.
OFAC issued the warning as Washington launched what it called “Economic D-Day,” an intensified pressure campaign against Tehran.Get that? So now, ships sailing the straits:
-Will not pay tolls to Iran
-Will sail with their transponders off
-Will not even call Iran to tell them they're going by
And what's the result? One thing this board has looked at is the daily flow of oil through the straits and comparing it to the pre-war average of 20M bbl/day.
Where are we now?

We count 25 millionA busy day in the Gulf of Oman, where there are at least fifteen sets of STS transfer sessions taking place. We count 25 million barrels of crude oil; plus some refined products. The oil originates from almost every country in the region, minus Iran.25 million bbl on the 25th. That doesn't count all the oil flowing through expanded pipeline capacity (another ~7M bbl/day).
Not bad.
