Reagan used racist dog whistles, to flip the south to the GOP. Trump was the first, in my memory, to be openly, defiantly, proudly, racist. In the back of my mind, has been the thought, that his dalliance with the "birthers" was market research, to see if an openly racist campaign could get traction. We are living the result. He can get away with anything, as long as he shows his base brown people being beat up.

Either way, it was racist White Liberals and 401K'ers who gave us Trump.
Had they just compromised a little bit, this all wouldn't be happening.
But when they INSTANTLY react to insinuations of blame or suggestion of compromise, that is the DOG WHISTLE to Leftists - where the revert back to paternalistic racism.
Instead of saying "ok, maybe we could've eased up a bit - here and there"
