OK I see where in TODAY's NY Times they actually have the reporting on this. It wasn't there in yesterday's version, at least not what I could see.
Powell's statement is actually tremendously disturbing. It's basically a whining political rant which completely evades the core issue of what he is being investigated for.
No where does he state anything to the merits such as
"To the best of my knowledge the recent Fed construction/renovation project, over which I had supervisory authority, was done in full compliance with all legal, ethical, and financial restraints. The Fed intends to fully cooperate, and is fully cooperating, with the DOJ's investigatory efforts, which I must remind the public, is a legitimate oversight function of the federal government to protect the American peoples' money. While the Fed is independent when it comes to setting monetary policy for the country, we do obviously have to follow the same rules as every other government agency when it comes to how we spend the taxpayers' dollars. I am sure when this investigation is concluded the Fed will have an A+ report card and a clean bill of health, which I hope will give the nation even more confidence in the job we have been doing for the country."
Nope. Not even close to anything like this. Powell was like: "WAhhhh!!! Unfair!!!! Why is Trump picking on me????"
Very unnerving.
