Taking the oil was the candy Stephen Miller dangled in front of Dozy Don to get him to go along with a war,

There was persistent chatter, in the summer of 2024, that Trump told the assembled CEOs of "big oil", if they have him $1B, he would give them everything they want. So far, he has eased emissions regs, eased vehicle fuel economy regs, eliminated EV subsidies, and, now, targets foreign oil reserves. Pretty good payback, for a paltry $1B. These days, he would probably want $10B for these services.
