You're aware they...actually did that, right?

Yes. iirc, the media described the devices as forming a slug of molten metal which fired upward to penetrate the bottom of US military vehicles. If the Iraqi resistance had not bought devices from Iran, they would have used something else. If 43 had not lied us into that war, our guys would not have been there, to be killed or maimed, in the first place.
