The right follow up question is why if it was good enough back then that we need all the performative theater and riots now. The answer is because the theater and riots are features, not bugs.
The right question(s) are:
Why does ICE have 4000 masked, anonymous agents in Minneapolis- outnumbering Minneapolis police 5:1?
Why have they been offered immunity?
Why have they been told they don’t need a judicial warrant to force their way into a house?
These questions have not been answered, and their thuggish behavior, murder of two Minneapolis residents and attacks on civilians have mobilized citizens against their tactics. Until they cease their thuggery, yes, their protests (not riots) will remain a feature, not a bug.
