Yesterday, Baghdad Dope posted a screed about why Democrats should not be in power, and proceeded to justify his argument by citing some words spoken by ONE Democrat, and his argument was more a fractured philosophical argument about Tim Kaine’s failure to proclaim that Constitutional rights were “God given”.

But Baghdad Dope failed to mention one very important thing- and that is: The proof is in the pudding.

Democratic run states make the God-given, living, breathing lives of their inhabitants much better- better incomes, better health care outcomes, more protection for individual freedoms, better opportunities, longer lives, better education.

Christopher Armitage brings the receipts:
https://cmarmitage.substack.com/p/red-states-less-...

Again, proof is in the pudding.

Interestingly, Dope was unable to refute 1 single fact in the article that Bill posted.

But Dope did resort to some pretty good name calling. The best I’ve seen since 2nd grade.

Didn't read it. Bill started with a personal attack, which means I don't need to bother with anything he (or you) think is "factual".

Didn't read it. ~Dope

This is categorized as the fallacy of avoiding the issue or missing the point. It simply sidesteps the real issue, which undermines sound reasoning and critical discussion.
Examples include switching topics, making unrelated statements, or focusing on irrelevant details instead of countering the core argument.

No. As usual, what DID make the list above "valuable" was demand by society for them. No demand = they don't get done. You know, the LACK OF EXISTENCE of any country that ONLY allows the wealthy to own property and live there. It doesn't exist because the wealthy ALL know THEY CAN'T AFFORD IT.

The wealthy are the *definition* of Welfare Queens.

Yeah, he probably should have stopped "I saw an ad-hom and stopped reading at that point". I get that. I do that also. But then he went on to comment about something he didn't read, so...nope. Not informed commentary.

Historically, the federal has done MUCH better under Dem leadership than Rep leadership. It's been pretty consistent for the last 50 years or more. At the state level, I'm not sure that rule would apply. A lot of other factors, like what resources and industry is in any given region.

I posted an article last year during the campaigns. It documented a lot of things that Dems do that we don't really notice; the inner workings of government to keep it functioning. We only notice it when it's not working.

I've noticed Dems -when they win- have to clean up the mess the Reps made: reduce the deficit, fix unseen things. They are the only ones who ever make a real effort to fund infrastructure. Again, at the federal level. At the state level, most of what I notice is a callous disregard for people (and the Constitution) who don't fit a specific profile (i.e. WASPs) in "red" states.

Again, proof is in the pudding.

Yes, proof is in the pudding.

Blue cities in Red states have a higher crime rate.
SNIP
Where homicide rates are highest: Blue cities in red states

https://www.axios.com/2025/08/15/homicide-rates-hi...

The Blue City Murder Problem
The Left’s claim that America has a “red state murder problem” is misleading and deflects from “progressive” soft-on-crime policies that have wreaked havoc.

https://www.heritage.org/crime-and-justice/heritag...

For the past two years, several think tanks on opposite sides of the political divide have waged war over whether “red” or “blue” America has a worse crime problem. Commentators on the left have pointed out that red states have higher homicide rates than blue states, while those on the right have noted that the relationship is more nuanced and can easily flip at a more local level: red-state crime problems are often concentrated in blue cities, and red counties have lower murder rates than blue counties.

https://manhattan.institute/article/red-vs-blue-cr...

Memphis, Tenn.

Memphis, the second-biggest city in the red state of Tennessee, tops the list with 2,501 violent crimes per 100,000 people, according to data from the FBI.

Detroit

Detroit closely trails Memphis with a violent crime rate of 1,781 per 100,00 and a rate of 31.2 homicides per 100,000 residents.

Last year, there were 203 homicides, the lowest number since 1965, according to city data. The number marks a 19 percent decrease from 2023 and 34 percent from 2022 for the Motor City.

Baltimore

Baltimore had 1,606 violent crimes and 34.8 homicides per 100,000 people last year.

Both Maryland Gov. Wes Moore (D) and Baltimore Mayor Brandon Scott (D) have tangoed with the president over his comments about the Charm City’s high crime rates.

Kansas City, Mo.

Kansas City, Mo., saw 1,547 violent offenses per 100,000 people in 2024. Last year, the city saw a 12 percent increase in nonfatal shootings and tallied 144 homicide cases.

Milwaukee

The city of Milwaukee had 1,431 violent crimes per 100,000.

So far this year, police have recorded 100 homicides and 293 rapes, marking a 10 percent and 1 percent year-on-year increase, respectively.

Albuquerque, NM

The FBI reported that 1,182 violent crimes occurred per 100,000 residents in Albuquerque, the largest city in the blue state of New Mexico.

Last year, there was a total of 94 homicides reported, three fewer than the year prior.

City police officers made 1,300 more arrests last year than in 2023, a 28 percent increase, according to KRQE.

Houston

Houston saw 1,148 crimes per 100,000 people last year, and violent crime in the red state of Texas’s largest city increased by about 4.5 percent from 2023 to 2024,

Nashville, Tenn.

Tennessee’s capital and its largest city, Nashville reported 1,124 violent crimes per 100,000 people; local police face a shortage of 100 officers, and leaders have struggled to increase staffing, the Nashville Banner reported.

Still, crime rates in 2025 are 10 percent lower than last year, according to the city.

The death toll reached 104 in 2024, one more death than the year before.

Denver
Denver saw 993 violent crimes per 100,000 people, according the FBI.

Republican leadership is so bad people are just killing themselves...

Studies comparing suicide rates between red and blue states consistently find that red states (MAGA) have much higher suicide rates.
This pattern is consistent across recent years and is supported by both state and county-level data.

Policies associated with conservative governance—such as weaker healthcare access, lax gun regulations, poor education outcomes, lower minimum wages, and limited social safety nets—are linked to higher mortality, including increases in suicide rates.

Economic factors, such as job insecurity, low income, and lack of paid sick leave, increase stress and vulnerability in populations living in red states.

Overall, the U.S. mortality rate has decreased in the last two decades. But the improvement for those living in Republican counties was half that of those in Democratic counties—11% lower versus 22% lower.

Another data point in “The proof is in the pudding”.

They talk a big game about freedom, natural rights and liberty, but when you actually look behind the screen, the reality paints a different picture.

Life in red states is increasingly “solitary, poor, nasty, brutish and short”.

I have always felt that hate was a waster so I practice not hating. Sometimes it's hard thought.

Gavin Newsom will do just fine for me, or Corey. Unfortunately we are going to see how badly you screwed up for having faith Trump. I'd love to see him totally repudiated, but I sense that isn't going to happen. Right now we're stuck with having him screw things up. I just hope the few things that happen right are good enough that we can still right the ship.

Your accusations of TDS is just a way of waving away inconvenient facts without actually addressing them.

It is a sad, pathetic way of argument.

But then again, when you love Trump more than you love your own son, a person must resort to sad, pathetic forms of arguments.

Yes, if blue cities caused all the murder problems, then why are NY and NJ, with big blue cities, in the bottom 15 of the murder rates of the states? Aren't those cities hell holes where gangs roam the streets commandeering cars, raping, murdering and pillaging? Maybe New Yorker gangs need pointers on how to do it right from those blue city gangs in red states?
