The funny thing is, watching the metro Detroit media, you would think the outbreak was limited to southeast Michigan. The national news says over 30 states have outbreaks.
The size of the outbreak says to me it isn't the Detroit water system. It's probably a national distributor of fresh produce that was irrigated with poo water, like Dole or Sysco.
Incubation can take 2 days to 2 weeks, averaging about 1 week. I'm pretty much in the clear wrt the sandwiches with lettuce from Tim Horton's on 6/30 and 7/1. In a moment of absent mindedness, I had a Big Mac on 7/4. Bit into it, and thought "oh no, lettuce". Halfway home on that one.
